In Europe there are about 2 – 3 million, in North and South America about 1 million ROMA and SINTI who are in urgent need of help. Most people belonging to the ROMA and SINTI ethnic group are forced to spend their lives in great poverty both in Europe (especially in South and Eastern Europe) and in North and South America.

There is a lack of everything: people cannot attend kindergartens or schools for many different reasons, they do not have access to even the simplest accommodation, they have no clothes or hygiene products, they have no health insurance and therefore no regulated access to medical care, the children have no toys, there is no care for the elderly and most of them cannot even pay for a proper funeral.

Even for the average citizen it is not easy to find a job without relationships. Moreover, people from the ethnic groups of the ROMA and SINTI have very often not been able to complete any (relevant) training and are discriminated against on the basis of their ethnicity, so many people do not get a job and are rejected everywhere. In addition, the people from these ethnic groups are constantly exposed to the prejudices of the population, in which they are generally regarded as terrorists, murderers or other violent criminals. The people of the SINTI and ROMA are, however, none of these things, they are family fathers and mothers who love their children and strive for a „normal“, i.e. modest, but nevertheless humane life. Through our organisation, the ERF (EUROPEAN ROMA FEDERATION), various organisations from several European and non-European countries are currently being networked.

The ERF has the primary goal of effectively and efficiently improving the largely appalling social situation of ROMA and SINTI. Specifically, we want to get the children off the streets, find jobs and offer various social support in general. In addition, we also have cultural goals and want to build cultural centres, churches and also museums in the long term.

The ERF was founded in 2016 and has contacts throughout Europe and also in North and South America. The ERF would like to achieve its goals above all through cooperation with various partners. We are a non-profit organization, which is financed by donations from national and international sponsors.
